General description of recipe
Ingredients
1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 c boiling water
1/2 c thinly sliced onions
2 T diced green pepper
2 T salad oil
1 c canned tomatoes
1 1/2 T chili powder
2 T cold water
1/4 t salt
1 t sugar (granulated)
1 1/2 garlic cloves
2 c kidney beans
Preparation
Cook onions and green pepper in hot fat in skillet until tender. Add ground beef and cook uncovered until browned. Add boiling water and tomatoes. Mix chili powder and cold water and add to mixture. Add salt, sugar, and garlic. Simmer (covered) for 1 hr. Then uncover and simmer 1/2 hr. Add a little hot water if mixture thickens before meat is done. Add kidney beans and heat. Serves 4.
